66 Portland Street, Toronto, Canada
GFA 75,500 sq.ft.
66 Portland defines the modern interpretation of the traditional loft design composed of bold precast, brick and shimmering glass.
The floating precast frame on two elevations breaks up what might have been a sharp corner and the brick elements running almost the full height of the building are reminiscent of the warehouse vernacular that is indigenous to the neighbourhood.
The design of this project also responds to the zoning requirements of the Reinvestment Area. The building rises six levels at the street edge with the top three floors setback to reduce the building’s mass from the street.
