In collaboration with FRAM Building Group, TCHC is undertaking the revitalization of their existing social housing portfolio at Allenbury Gardens through redevelopment of the entire lands. Currently occupied by low-rise townhouse units, the lands will be transformed into a fully planned, mixed-income and mixed-tenure community, through a variety of built forms, including low-rise back-to-back townhomes, to mid-rise and taller towers and a central public park.
CORE Architects were invited to participate in the RFP process for Allenbury Gardens, having already demonstrated to TCHC on 585 King East an ability to develop intelligent, sensitive, and efficient design solutions, while meeting time-sensitive milestones for all stages of the project and within strict budgetary constraints.
With similar criteria to deliver the high-rise residential component of the development, CORE successfully won the RFP and implemented a design that manages to provide connection between interior and exterior spaces. From the private residential to the semi-public amenity spaces and to the green courtyards beyond, our design creates a community fabric of shared spaces and activities that are welcoming to all residents which encourages a neighbourly exchange.
