196 Bronson Avenue, Ottawa, Canada
Lamb Development Corp.
GFA 151,217 sq.ft.
The Bronson is located in a historic, residential area near the Lebreton Flats and Chaudière’s early industrial districts in Ottawa. Due to the close proximity to these heritage districts, the Bronson was designed to evolve the cultural landscape while still preserving and enhancing the area’s historic, associative, and social values.
This 21-storey condominium consists of 212 units. It is distinguished by its set-back design with the south side of the building one level lower than the rest. The four-storey podium is clad in red brick and features vertical piers separated by windows and balconies. At ground level, the mixed-used commercial and residential building will feature floor-to-ceiling windows on the north and east sides, and a canopy above the patios and pedestrian walkways.
On the upper levels, the glass windows are unevenly divided by white concrete mullions and solid panels. Together, the windows, staggered balconies, and variable building heights harmoniously contribute to the Bronson’s asymmetrical design.
