Inspired by the heritage brick-warehouses

The Harlowe is located on the North-West edge of Toronto’s Fashion District. Inspired by the heritage brick-warehouses that permeate throughout the Fashion District, this 14-story red brick condominium will replace several of the single-detached homes on the Northside of Richmond Street, between Bathurst and Portland.

Historically-influenced

The goal of the historically influenced design was to construct a brand new building while seamlessly fitting it into the surrounding area. The building utilizes the heritage brick-warehouse aesthetics, including large black divided-light windows, double-height mullions, balconies suspended by steel cables, and prominent red brick, which is used in both the interior common areas and the exterior façade.

Glass-box minimalism

Of the 220 units, the first eleven stories will have nine and ten-foot ceilings while the top floor will contain 11-foot ceilings. These upper levels combine glass-box minimalism with steel, offering panoramic views of the city. They are also set back from the rest of the building with many featuring full-length balconies and expansive terraces.

Set back Design

At the penthouse level, the three-bedroom suites range up to 1,500 square feet. The building will be set back six meters from the street to house a patio for the street-level bistro. An exhaust system will be designed to carry the fumes from cooking, past the residential floors and to the roof of the building. It will also contain bicycle parking on the service level and five levels of underground parking below.
