CORE’s Amazing Race Team Building Challenge
CORE recently hosted its first Amazing Race Team Building Challenge, a high-energy event designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and a healthy dose of competition across teams. Spearheaded by Partner Elizabeth Vu-Campbell, the day brought together colleagues from across the organization for an unforgettable experience that tested both mental sharpness and physical stamina.
Six teams competed head-to-head in a thrilling race that spanned 5.6 kilometres through a series of checkpoints and challenges. Completing the course in just 1 hour and 8 minutes, participants demonstrated exceptional determination, strategy, and teamwork. Battling not only the course but also an intense summer heatwave, teams showed remarkable resilience and energy, with all teams finishing within mere minutes of each other.
Along the way, participants, including Partner Earl Mark and Brian Laye, solved 17 clues, seven of which involved interactive, hands-on challenges that required teamwork, communication, and out-of-the-box thinking. From decoding puzzles and navigating hidden trails to completing physical tasks under pressure, each clue brought its own challenge, keeping adrenaline levels high throughout the race. Adding to the excitement, local businesses also played a role by contributing clues, further enhancing the sense of community and discovery woven into the day’s events.
In the end, it was the Blueprint Bandits, led by Senior Associate Kevin Saunders, with team members Chris Watkins, Donna Abrenica, and Lydia Connor, who emerged victorious. Their strategic approach, quick thinking, and relentless teamwork helped them edge out the competition and cross the finish line first.
“This event was a fantastic opportunity to step outside of the usual day-to-day and connect with each other in a new way,” said Partner Elizabeth Vu-Campbell. “It was inspiring to see everyone push themselves and each other, all while having a lot of fun.”
The success of CORE’s first Amazing Race has already sparked enthusiasm for future events, with many teams eager for a rematch. Congratulations to all participants, especially the Blueprint Bandits, for making it a day to remember.
